Avril, a young animal rights lawyer, is prepared to do whatever it takes to save her client, a canine repeat offender, from the death penalty. Caught as she is between a belief in justice and an increasing difficulty in tolerating human disregard for animals, she discovers that the dog will help her to accept her own human complexity.
